Hi All,
The Zeitgeist Movement Gold Coast Chapter would like to invite you to come along to this extraordinary meeting.
The National Chapter Coordinators, David Zwolski and Kari McGregor will be in town on Tuesday and will be attending this meeting with the Gold Coast Chapter members for some Q&A.
This would be a good opportunity for new and existing members to meet with the coordinators in person to discuss TZM structure and processes as well as find out about all the activities that are going on with other chapters.
Date: Tuesday, 24th April 2012
That’s right – you usually hear the phrase “think global, act local”, and we’ve decided to take it a step further with our globally networked Movement of local community-based action.
When we act locally and network globally everyone can be an activist. Believe it or not it takes more than people like Martin Luther King and Gandhi to change the world - it takes little people like you and me! Taking small steps, making strong connections, and telling new, more positive stories are things we can all do to be the change we want to see.
The Zeitgeist Movement Australia’s latest Global Issues Awareness Campaign revolves around exactly that – local actions, globally networked. This month we’re kicking off a series of monthly local events, hosted by you! Yes – that’s right – hosted by you!
The next Gold Coast monthly meeting is coming up! Here are the details:
Existing and new members welcome.
The Zeitgeist Movement Gold Coast chapter would like to extend an invitation to you to participate in our monthly meeting. The meeting agenda will consist of orientation, open discussion and movie analysis. As the chapter is in its early stages, the meeting structure will be very flexible and inclusive.
Subsequent meetings are likely to be on the 1st Thursday of every month.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to call the Gold Coast Chapter Coordinator, Olia on 0409 014 450
We are having another informal get-together very soon – details are as follows:
Date: Sunday, March 25, 2012
Time: 3:00pm until 6:00pm
Venue: 2945 Surfers Paradise Blvd., Surfers Paradise QLD 4217
This is an informal get together for members and interested people providing a chance to ask questions about the movement, or to socialise with other members. Come along and help our movement grow. This will also be a great chance to share ideas on how we can spread the Zeitgeist message and develop the Gold Coast Chapter.
The world’s largest coal mine is being developed 400km inland from Cairns, with a proposal to ship coal through the Whitsundays. There is no doubt that it will destroy existing jobs in tourism and agriculture, and hurt manufacturing across Queensland.
Actions and forums will be held in Queensland over the coming month. Don’t miss your chance to be involved and expose the propaganda of the mining industry for what it is. Events are to be held in both Cairns and Brisbane.
The Zeitgeist Movement Gold Coast chapter invites you to the first in a series of public, introductory meetings to orient new members. The format will be a Q&A preceded by screenings of excerpts of the Zeitgeist movies, Addendum and Moving Forward, conducted by members of the Gold Coast and Brisbane Chapters together.
Subsequent meetings are likely to be on the 1st Thursday of every month (to compliment the Brisbane Chapter Town Hall meetings – 2ndSaturday of every month and Sunshine Coast Chapter Meetings – 3rd week of each month), pending confirmation from the team.
The next national organization meeting will be as follows:
Date: Sunday 26th February 2012
Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm EST
Location: Teamspeak – TZM Australia room
Please feel free to attend. Meetings are open to all for the sake of transparency (they are also recorded). Due to limited time generally only organizers/coordinators speak, although if there is limited traffic and/or you have something important to share then there may be an opportunity to do so during the meeting. Otherwise there will be an opportunity for general discussion once the business side of the meeting is over – all members are invited to participate in this.
The main focus of the next meeting will be plans for Z-day 2012 – planned for Saturday 17th March. The agenda is accessible via the following google-doc, to which anyone is free to add an item for discussion: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v8NDOA51OsnaB9ra9pwBINVDTq3K8IQ9OL6A… Time is short and plans need work – so please chime in with your ideas as and when they come up!

Hey there!
The next organizers’ meeting is coming up soon – details are:
This meeting will be open to the public, meaning that anyone can listen in. However, as is also the case with international meetings, only coordinators/representatives will be able to speak during the meeting due to time constraints (with 11,000 members it has the potential to get chaotic!), although if there is low traffic others will get a chance. Once the business part of the meeting is over (8pm) there will be ample opportunity for all present at the meeting to continue their discussion and chip in their 2-cents’ worth, so those who did not have a chance to speak before can do so then
For a look at the agenda please check: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1567jmCuRWU-KQuVrLsFN4DqxZAqbW2WsTuIg… As it’s a google-doc please feel free to add any suggestions for agenda items that you feel need to be discussed. These will be prioritised at the beginning of the meeting.
Cheers, and hope to seeyas (hearyas?) next week,
Kari x
