TZMau Organizers Meetup (all welcome)

The next national organization meeting will be as follows:

  • Sunday 29th January 2012
  • Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm EST
  • Location: Teamspeak – TZM Australia room

Please feel free to attend. Meetings are open to all for the sake of transparency (they are also recorded). Due to limited time generally only organizers/coordinators speak, although if there is limited traffic and/or you have something important to share then there may be an opportunity to do so during the meeting. Otherwise there will be an opportunity for general discussion once the business side of the meeting is over – all members are invited to participate in this. For agenda items please check this link to a google-doc.

The main focus of the next meeting will be plans for Z-day 2012 – planned for Saturday 17th March. Time is short and plans need work – so please chime in with your ideas as and when they come up!

Spirit of the Times issue 3 Is Out!

Happy New Year from the team at The Zeitgeist Movement Australia!

Our first offering of 2012 to the awakened community is the latest issue of our home-grown magazine, Spirit of the Times.

Issue 3 centres around contemporary economic issues and the concept and process of transition to a much-needed alternative economic zeitgeist. This issue is packed with analytical investigation of how we got to where we are now and solutions for moving forward to a more sustainable future.

We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed putting it together!

Here’s to a sustainable-solutions start to 2012 – may your year bring hope, inspiration and a sense of empowerment.

TZMau Organizers’ open Team Speak Meetup

Hey there!

The next organizers’ meeting is coming up soon – details are:

  • Date: Sunday – 15th
  • Time: 6pm-8pm EST
  • Location: Teamspeak – Zeitgeist Australia room

This meeting will be open to the public, meaning that anyone can listen in. However, as is also the case with international meetings, only coordinators/representatives will be able to speak during the meeting due to time constraints (with 11,000 members it has the potential to get chaotic!), although if there is low traffic others will get a chance. Once the business part of the meeting is over (8pm) there will be ample opportunity for all present at the meeting to continue their discussion and chip in their 2-cents’ worth, so those who did not have a chance to speak before can do so then :-)

For a look at the agenda please check: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1567jmCuRWU-KQuVrLsFN4DqxZAqbW2WsTuIg… As it’s a google-doc please feel free to add any suggestions for agenda items that you feel need to be discussed. These will be prioritised at the beginning of the meeting.

Cheers, and hope to seeyas (hearyas?) next week,

Kari x

Australia wide Protest against Julian Assange Arrest

From Indy media

Please note that this is not a event organized by Zeitgeist Australia.

People all over Australia and the world are calling for the release of Julian Assange and his protection in the name of free speech and public interest. Rallies have now been called in Melbouren, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Hobart. He has been vilified by politicians and right wing commentators worldwide, with the Canadian PM calling for his assassination! Let the Aust gov know you support free speech and Wikileaks and want the Australian Government to upold the human rights of Wikileaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange by attending one of the rallies. Some of the rallies coincide with this Friday 10th December’s International Human Rights Day but are also occuring over the weekend. See below for details:

Buy Nothing Day morphs into a Wildcat General Strike on November 28

There is  one way you can do to avoid the collapse of this human experiment of ours on Planet Earth: we have to consume less. So this November 28 in Europe and overseas, Adbusters in kinship with Zeitgeist Australia is calling for a Wildcat General Strike. We’re asking tens of millions of people around the world to bring the capitalist consumption machine to a grinding – if only momentary – halt. We want you to shut off your lights, televisions and other nonessential appliances. We want you to park your car, turn off your phones and log off of your computer for the day. We’re calling for a Ramadan-like fast. From sunrise to sunset we’ll abstain en masse – not only from holiday shopping, but from all the temptations of view complete entry
