The Zeitgeist Movement Members are encouraged to join Berkeley University – Boinc Project. This project uses your computers idle time to assist major scientific research around the world.
Boinc is simple software that will download packages from a research center around the world that will be computed on your PC while it is idle. The studies range from nanotechnology to pulsar discovery and curing diseases. You can even choose which project you would like to participate in.
You can find more info here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/
We now need 25,000 active members, to join the new BOINC project we are focusing on MalariaControl.net. Malaria kills around 1 million people every year, most of them children. By joining this project you can help speed up research that will help the Global Malaria Action Plan (GMAP), which is a series of measures that were proposed to eliminate malaria as a global public health concern by 2015, eliminate all malaria transmission within 8–10 countries by the same deadline, and build towards its eventual global eradication
How this will help the world?
Getting a supercomputer to some of the processing can be very expensive, and a casue is never given money based on its merrit but on its sponsorship. Boinc supports groups that advance our technological, physical, and biological understanding that on the end can provide cures for diseases or even help find extraterrestial life!
How will this help TZM ?
Simply put, supercomputers always get into the news! Having The Zeitgeist Movement team rivaling today’s supercomputers will get us seriously noticed as an organization in the mainstream news.
The software is great, it won’t slow down your PC, neither it will drain your broadband, and is very easy to use.
Here is how you can get involved:
- Restart your computer and follow the registration process.
- In Boinc Advanced view, go to Tools > Attach to Project and Choose the project/s that you wish to participate in – (eg. malariacontrol.net ).
- After you choose your project, search for the International Team – “The Zeitgeist Movement” and join.
If you wish you can put Bionic to “autostart” when you switch on your computer. You can do so by dropping a shortcut of Boinc to your Start Menu>Startup .
