Yo sup?
I stumbled upon Part 1: The Greatest Story Ever Told of Peter Joseph's Zeitgeist: the Movie on youtube in 2007. It really feels like it was earlier than that but according to wikipedia that would be impossible.
Perplexing.
Aaaanyway, immediately after watching Part 1 I downloaded the whole film from Peter's website and watched it amongst friends. We all seemed to be able to relate to much of Peter's message.
As soon as Addendum came out I watched it, thought about it and then jumped right on the Venus Project band wagon. I've been observing The Zeitgeist Movement on and off for a while now and have attended some events in Sydney over the last couple of years.
Being a bit of a rebel in highschool I'd always disliked the idea of needing money to get by (and false authorities
) so seeing the film gave me an intellectual framework/excuse/reason for my feelings and behaviours. I believe, as much as I believe anything, that rage against the machine (good band too), many mental 'disorders' and many (if not all) crimes are merely symptoms of what could aptly be called a cancer or a monetary system or a whatever.
Now that we are a species who can communicate with itself on a global scale we really need to look at the earth as a holistic system and go about curing this disease from the source. This is as opposed to popping a figurative aspirin pill which would cure nothing but awareness.
I feel that we must accept the destructive symptoms of the monetary system as a current and present reality. I also feel that in working together to cure this ailment eventually the symptoms shall dissipate. I believe I'm paraphrasing Jacque fresco here when I say "Utopia may be an unreachable dream but we as a species have the potential to create a world that is so much more sane and functional than the present one." (Please tell me if I missed the point)
What is the best way of moving past the monetary system and corporate free market, moving past our collectively limiting beliefs and creating a healthy and sustainable future for all?
I don't pretend to know the answer to the above question and I highly doubt that any one individual truly does. People like Peter Joseph, Jacque Fresco, Roxanne Meadows and MANY, MANY, MANY OTHERS are devoting their lives to finding the answer to this question and making it a reality.
Personally I believe that I've taken the back seat long enough and I now feel the urge to get actively involved.
I've matured much, freed my mind and learned a lot since first watching the original film and now feel comfortable in the knowledge that I am able to contribute - as a creative, psychologically free and mature adult - to a compassionate, sustainable and intelligent future for our species.
I find myself very happy in the knowledge that I am not alone.
Hi.
