This thread is dedicated to the discussion and rehashing of the html/css theme's that exist over the Forum and website.

    A re-imagination if you will.

Personally I do really like the black based image of the earth in the background of both forum and website but especially with the forum, perhaps we need some "inside the table" white while swapping the orange for perhaps a green or blue?

Ideally, we would like the website to compliment the forum, hence me creating this thread seeking discussion on ideas.

What helps us inspire, motivate, educate, and present ourselves in the most appropriate way?

Firstly, I find it easier to read black text on a white background so if I'm going to be reading bulk text, which happens often in the forums, then I'd rather see that change.

Other than that, everything else would be a matter of personal taste and not function for me - green, blue and white all combine well as an environmental colour scheme, I'd say that's why the international site uses that theme. I think the orange here is a very Australian colour especially when combined with sky blue and that not-quite-olive, eucalypt green.

I mentioned in the other suggestion thread we should contact the zeitgeist main and ask them whether they will allow us to dump their Joomla installation and template into the local chapters web servers so there can be consistency.

If ZM main dont want to let the chapters use their template, then we make our own.

So if you want to know my thoughts. I suggest using Joomla and its optimal framework T3. Further, there are many companies that have adjusted T3 to make superior and more advanced Content Management Systems. I wont discuss the options at this stage.

With meeting from experienced key players and some debate, we can now have a well planned and thought out foundation for the design. It is integral to have selected this foundation and development framework before starting the design because it plays a big factor in what design page space and resources that are available.

I personally think that the front page of a web site should focus on a fine balance between functionality and design. The said functionality includes more than just a menu system, it should feature several key areas of the site on the front page, have prominent and larger links for important areas, include fresh content for those revisiting, scrolling news, and more. With all of these function/content items considered, what you are left with for web design is a main component called a 'header', (the bar across the head of your page), and other than this the user interface design and carefully considered imagery.

The reason I have typed out the process at length for your consideration is to demonstrate that a concept and aesthetics are only a part of the overall process of a good web site.

    Hope this helps.

    Warm Regards

    Jeremy

With the above study as a reference, I'll say black text on white background looks more professional and coloured text/ backgrounds are more aesthetically pleasing. I think any significant body of text should be black on white with trimmings in appropriate colours. Thoughts?

    @jeremy-

yes, there is a template available for joomla BUT its for joomla, and we are using wordpres.

thou in a long run, changing the CMs is not such a problem ( just timetaking ) i have chosen joomla over wordpres since i predicted that this site will be build by many people - ie: all organizers.

Joomla requires some schooling before you can jump on it and build content, wordpres is very easy, and anyone that can browse the we ban use it. Thus so i am content with sticking with wordpres for now.

I know exacly what you mean, i do need to sit down in front of the site and shape it up better. But then again, im wondering if i should not totaly redo the site and do it black text on white background.

    ALSO

I find white text on black easier to read - it does not bite my eyes so much

White text on black background suits me better too because the reverse can be quite glaring and hard on the eyes

It's pretty easy to have a tiny button at the top to flick between the 2 opposing colour schemes.

I am redeveloping the site theme ( looks ) also to facilitate our coming Radio show in it.

My main conept for the ongoing artwork of za.org is to make each redevelopment the theme a bit brighter.
each time the movement gains momentum, the theme would ( ideally ) change ultimately leading to a full bright-blinding white design like tzm.com.

'boxes' where content will be places will be almost-white background with black text ( accordingly to the study posted here, this is the very best format ).

    Suggestions of design:

How about a slight redesign of the website, we add new feature's while still keeping a lot of the old information as well

    -Colour scheme
--After reading a lot on the forums makes me a little tired because of stress of looking at white on grey.(though I still like the colour's.)

-Larger Print on the menu and some text on main site
--I am sight impaired and I find it a little hard to read.

    -Forum clean up
    -Design picture data base
--So we can upload picture's of our design's of things to share with every one
and keep it on TZM data base's

    New content tab idea's:
    -Trade
    -Z shed Idea
    -Skills Bank
    -Guide to starting Local chapters
    -Garage Sale

    Trade:
Trade system in place for people to trade items
    -example
    I have 6 eggs
Some one wants trade me 3 apples for them
    accept/decline
Trade system based on Criegs list for any items

    Z shed:
Library for tools and resources TZM has.
Chapter group's list what they want to build,
    How long it will take,
    What tools/labor they need,
    What resources they need.

They borrow out the tool's from the Z shed build what they need,
    Clean them bring them back.

    Skills Bank
To trade labor, if you want to.
    Profile information including
    Age,
    Skills,
    Locations,
    Police check,
    Schooling degree's,

    -Example
I want to paint my fence,
I post request for labor to paint fence,
    Fence size - 1.2m
    Fence distance 10m
Payment - 10 points into skill bank

Some one agree's to help, Once finished, Give 10 points to the person that painted

To get the ball rolling TZM would ask for help in sharing TZM DVD's
    1 DVD = 1 point,
Active TZM project involvement = 5 point,
A trial of this system is underway some where in Canada, I am not sure if it would work, but none the less some thing to think about even though its just replacing dollars with points and still to me it just sounds like Credit *sadface*

    Guide to starting local Chapter's:
A step guide of how to start a chapter with just a few people,
    Resources,
    Idea's from successful chapters,
FAQ by people as to why bother and anti TZM,
Rough Cost's way's to cut them down,

    Garage Sale:
Just a listing for garage sales,
While thinking about this maybe this would be best for the forums...
