G'day, I'm on the Gold Coast!
I was thinking the other day how we could hang out in front of dole offices and hand out DVD's or leaflets. We could encourage those who are interested to 'donate' their time and skills to this network of our community.
I have professional qualifications but haven't been able to find work that doesn't require sacrifices I'm not willing to make. My basic needs are met (I have food, water and shelter along with excellent health) and I was considering 'donating' my time to help others who have no employment and who need my professional knowledge. I just think there's something in this...we have a growing number of unemployed people and I have faith that the vast majority of them have skills and wish to contribute, but they are mostly not willing to do this because it's not reciprocated and they believe they'll just be used.

but they are mostly not willing to do this because it's not reciprocated and they believe they'll just be used.

Umm...used more than the current system that put them on the dole in the first place??

Ok I'm back in the saddle so to speak, so lets try this again. have we developed a Gold Coast Chapter yet?

I got this in my inbox recently:

    SUNSHINE COAST ZEITGEIST MOVEMENT
    NEWSLETTER 6/2/11
    ZEITGEIST – MOVING FORWARD

The premier for the movie Zeitgeist – Moving Forward was presented at Nambour Art-House Cinema on Saturday 15th January, 2011 on the Sunshine Coast. This was a wonderful moment to see a beautiful mixture of people attend. So thank you for making the night a success. Naturally, I was very concerned about who could make it considering the devastating floods which have ravaged Queensland. As expected I had received numerous calls and emails from people who were busy giving their time in the massive clean up in various locations around the state. To them I praise. I know they were anxious to be a part of our evening and each of them sent their best wishes for the night.

Even so, the evening was great. A fabulous crowd of 100 people did come along and although I didn’t get a chance to talk to everyone, I did manage to speak with some.

I received varying different types of feedback and I felt this was very encouraging. Some of these thoughts I would like to share with everyone. Should you have suggestions, ideas or thoughts and feedback, please send me an email - I love sharing information.

Starting at the top, the general feel, the movie was informative. Several people commented on the impact of the ending where the people of the world stood calm, rejecting the monetary system. No violence occurred just a peaceful ground was stood. One young man said it brought an emotional tear to his eyes. Being the father of a school age daughter he wants to see this come to fruition. This was a powerful message from the movie.

One woman commented she was pleased the justice system was covered. In her circumstances, dealing with Family Law, she agreed the system only bred more problems, not to mention financial burden. There is no solution to be had in the justice system. She further commented the morning after the movie premier, the whole system needs to be abolished – but how? Yes I agree and the ‘how’ is what Zeitgeist’s goal is. This brings me onto another comment by a gentleman who said nothing of this is new. All of this stuff most people know. Again I agree. He said people have been saying this for years but no-one is making the change. I thought about what he said. Yes, although this message has been said for many years and continues to do so amongst the people, it is when we stop - then we have given up and become puppets to the system. It is while our persistent continues we keep the need for a change alive.

Another comment which was general among many people and again I agree – Although the content was informative, the movie was too long. The first hour, in several opinions, could have been condensed to around ten minutes because, as one woman said, we are intelligent people and we got it in the first five minutes. After the first hour the movie took on a more captive appeal. The humour used during the film was appreciated by the audience and I could hear little chuckles of laughter around the cinema. There is no doubt Peter Joseph has done a wonderful job bringing information to the world and I doubt most of us could have done it any better. I think a length of a film and the slow content, as in the beginning, is only a small hitch to the overall message being conveyed.

Peter Joseph is very passionate about informing people of the problems in society and is dedicated to wanting change. It is Peter Joseph and Jacque Fresco’s Venus Project and their passion for change is the reason I am a part of Zeitgeist. And while ever we persist there is hope. It is when we stop, we will fail. And failure just isn’t in my vocabulary. If this takes 50 to 100 years or whatever to change, then I want to be a part of the generation that contributed toward making earth a better place for humanity.

I think the perfect example of our humanity has been the Queenslanders who have shown in recent days their empathy toward their fellow neighbours. The helping hand extended from strangers to strangers in a time of need only highlights humanities potential to stand together. There is no doubt about the government involvement in the clean up after the flood devastation. But it is the people who outnumbered the government who took it upon themselves to step in and make a difference. So when you think about whether it is possible for humanity to make a change to society and the systems, I think yes. We do have it in us to make a change. The Zeitgeist Movement along with many other groups around the world recognize the potential for change and its possibility. The sheer existence of many groups wanting change can only lead toward joining together for a common goal.

As a final note I would like to mention to those people who attended with regard to the filming we did on the night. It was requested of us to give an overview of the evening. Since this was a premier global event from Peter Joseph, as this film was shown in 315 locations across 60 countries, Peter wanted a visual of the event. This was never intended to upset anyone. So for those of you who may have also been concerned and did not say anything, I want you to know faces are being deleted off the footage. I will send a picture of me to Peter instead (I’m sure he will like thatJ). It is important when you don’t feel comfortable about something to speak to me. I recognize the emotion of something like this and am always happy to resolve it.

I have a recommendation from one of our movie goers at the premier screening. He has suggested the website/book http://www.webofdebt.com check it out. I would love to hear your comment either on the movie or Zeitgeist in general. Suggestions and ideas are always welcome. Let me know if you do not want your name to be printed. And remember in my mind negative comments do not exist because every comment regardless of the emotion attached only betters understanding and widens knowledge. Debate and discussion is healthy. My email is infinitepossibility@hotmail.com

On another note, communication is important. So if you have something to offer the group please let me know and I will be happy to inform as many people as possible. I have received an overwhelming amount of information in my inbox and I will share this with you soon.

Our next meeting for the Sunshine Coast Zeitgeist will be on Saturday 26th February, 2011 – 2pm at 4 Warragai Court Noosa Heads. If you have a suggestion for a better venue please let me know.

    Thank you
