Ok first off, someone grab a thesaurus or something and lets find a new name or phrase or some invigorating terminology. "Religion" is simply not going to cut the mustard.

We need to identify the good points about what we know of the religious faiths that have gone before us. weigh them up, brings pro's and con's to the table with reasons why for or why not.

Let's try to do it in point form, so don't just reply with what you perceive as a new version just yet. We need to do it together and then present it to the Global Community so they can all have some input. After all we want a truly global belief/behaviour system that can be adopted by everyone. It is all about uniting mankind as one, so I guess we should offer it up for dissection.

Remember "global" so keep it simple enough to have a common yet broad meaning and implementation. This could quite possibly be the longest and most time consuming thread in the Forums.

I will try to get the ball rolling with a few.

As I am a single parent, sex with minors should be a castration offense.

A persons privacy should be acknowledged.

The right to have free speech, but to respect the varying opinions of others.

The right to gather. but without intimidation.

The right to life. - This will get complicated when things like abortion and terminal illness come into play.

Reward should be equal to effort. - this will need further definition which will become clearer over time, when roles unfold. Reward itself will need to be defined. A quick thought on the topic could be reward based on time allocated or allowed for leisure versus work hours, shift, schedules etc.

hmm so many things to consider, I think I am drifting already.

With no money crime will not be the same as it is now. therefore punishment will differ.

Murder is murder but not always monetary based.

We are emotional creatures and this 'love' thing can really stuff some people up.

Property based murder will be redundant as we will all have same. Unless someone wants that top floor apartment that old bastard lives in... lol. (yes I would want one on top with a view of the snow covered mountains, rolling hills, wind swept fields, white sandy beaches and clear blue ocean. Is that too much to ask ) Why me and not you, why you and not me??? sheesh we have our work cut out for us.

Would we have different relationships than we do now? Meaning the entire marriage thing is christian based?

We would need to identify whether it would benefit the human race to keep a couple styled set up as opposed to a free for all or one for many. If a man could have many women, then it would only be fair that a women could have many men, wouldn't it? Again this entire possession of another human by coupling perhaps should change. Would that mean some miss out altogether? eek scary. Although I guess some do now anyway maybe?

Perhaps a radical new approach, throwing off the 'old world' memories. Meaning get rid of the concept of coupling only coming 'together' as it were for breeding or ... shyte... help!!!

don't forget we are not just trying form a type of religion but more so a set of guidelines to live by and with our fellow man/woman.

we might have to deal with this in sections.

crap I think I have broken my own idea on format for this thread already...

hey there's one - Foul language is different all over so there is another global consideration.

Which brings to mind another... do we want to be all the same?

Perhaps we should just deal with one item at a time and thrash it out until we all have a common understanding and agreement upon it. Maybe that would be better.

    opps it's daylight...

    Let's do this

DEFINITELY not 'religion' - perhaps more a code of ethics for mortal living...this indefinitely describes it as dealing with facets of living and not making it about a philosophy of death...

I have always viewed marriage as a religious concept; which in part powers my belief of never to get married. What furthermore causes this apple to be rotten, is it has become a politicized agenda as well with marriage under the scrutiny of laws and common, broad generalizations. To me, there should be no laws against how one chooses to endure their love life, whether that is from taking commitment vowels to one individual or living life as a 'single' but attached? Laws on rape and sex with minors should remain in act, with punishments themselves I'm not sure...it would depend on how society evolves in dealing with 'criminals'.

The right to life. - This will get complicated when things like abortion and terminal illness come into play.

Perhaps the right to life should encompass for an individual, not only the right to be treated and live, but also the right to choose to medically and humanely end such life, should any potential condition get to the point of lowering the quality of life drastically...just an idea?

Haha...I'm sure if some females were to read this, they would scream in horror, but I, well I chuckle on the side, because this has been at many times a point of view I've taken...

Do you mean in the public usage of foul language? As for the defining of foul language; that will change depending on the trends of society at that particular time..

The word religion comes from the word religare "to bind fast" or "bond between humans and gods". I have also heard it said that it means to re-bind; Re-bind ones self to the true realities of existence, transcending all space and time (Urban Species - Religion & Politics). Conversely, Politics comes from politic - which means shrewd and cunning ;p

    Marriage.

Peter Joseph has said the Marriage is another institution put in place so that people will stay together and look after their kids. Before Christianity, Pagans would have a hand binding ceremony that would bind them to one another "for as long as the love lasts". This would be a good way to celebrate your desire to commit to each other without being bound by some ridiculous law.

    The right to life.
Yes it is tough! Abortion is difficult. I would like to think that in our highly educated society, un-planned pregnancy would be a very rare occurrence. That said, typical abortions are undergone generally due to monetary or social influences. The issue of not being able to provide for the child will no longer be a problem. If severe defects in the child are detected and the child's quality of life would not be pleasant then abortion would almost be humane... but then, this is a social view that may evolve over time.

I'm all for having the right to die if my quality of life is degrading to a point where I won't know my friends or family or if I was in pain and a machine was the only thing keeping me alive.

    Sexual offenses/Murders
This is sadly a social condition once again. Certain aspects of these peoples lives have been suppressed or inflamed. People who commit these offenses are not criminals, they are sick and one would hope that our new view of oneness allows us to see that person for what they really are. You wouldn't lock away a person just because they were clinically depressed. Our new world view would encourage us to engage with this person (in a controlled environment) to find out what it was that caused the manifestation of these feelings and actions so that we might educate ourselves in ways to prevent these things from happening.

    Reward
This for me is not an issue. Given that roughly 5% of the world will be needed to work, how can you reward someone without making someone else feel like they are missing out. I feel that this concept would only be a step backwards. The reward for working and studying and researching is the fruits of those labors and the knowledge that the entire planet is better off because of it. This is a big subject to get in to because the next question is - what about everyone else? What about those people that don't work and don't study and don't contribute. These are all questions that would naturally spawn from our current selfish ways of thinking. Them! Me! Mine! Theirs! It's something we all need to think on more.

    Language
Veeeeery interesting topic. We WILL need a world language. Something not as ambiguous as our current languages. Words are often open to far too many interpretations. I think it's got something to do with emotions. Since we all have different experiences growing up, we all have different interpretations of words and emotions. For instance love to me might mean passionate sex and long meaningful conversations and to others it may mean something like devotion and reliability and this is nothing to do with personal preference. It is simply what we know. Words are empty vessels that we fill with our own understandings of the world, and when we speak them, unfortunately, we don't usually leave room for interpretation.

I'd like to reference a pagan universal law. "Do as you will but harm none." Beautifully simplistic.

I'll leave it there guys. I still have dishes to do

    “Our New Religion”??

There is no need for religion now or ever.

How anyone could even begin to consider religious ideas for Zeitgeist escapes me.

All religions are corrupt. They exist to take advantage of the superstitious/foolish and to sway public opinion towards supporting political agendas. Not to mention encouraging people to take things for their face value and discouraging in depth analysis.

If religious organisations so desperately want to feed the third world as they claim and advertise, they could! They don’t need your money in order to do this, believe me. They are a part of the inner circle that controls fear & money. But you should all know that.

You don’t need religion to know morality/right from wrong. Complications like abortion, right to die, Crime will be dealt with, without the ’10 commandments’.

The human species will understand that as long as we are on this planet we are holding back the evolution of all other species here. Animals will be seen as our companions and our children who must be protected from cruelty and no longer be allowed to accumulate on the list of species to become extinct as a result of our being here.

Poor family planning is generally due to financial instability. In a truly educated society this is unlikely to remain a common problem. People will understand they have an obligation to the environment and that that over population is a legitimate concern. It is a fact that the health and prosperity of wildlife is inversely proportional to the human population.

I believe in the Right to die. If someone has an incurable illness and it is their wish to die it should be their decision to make.

Killing crimes will become extremely rare. Although it is unlikely they will vanish altogether. A justice system would still need to exist but one without lawyers! This paragraph requires further discussion.

I strongly disagree that there should be a reward system. Responsibilities should be shared evenly and no human being should have more wealth than any other or more time to pursue their personal goals than any other.

Work would not be "work" as we see it today. It would be a lifestyle for all, not only undertaken by an oppressed working class. I am curious where you would have pulled this lucky 5% from? Genetically engineered to be our slaves? LOL!

A reward system is simply a terrible idea. Without money all that has been proposed by Mr Jacque Fresco is possible but only if greed stays dead and buried. Reward system = re emergence of greed.

The satisfaction in an ideal world is NO SLAVERY to the system, NO RELIGION, NO POVERTY, NO WAR, CLEAN HAPPY EXISTANCE, and EVOLUTION. Isn’t a better life for your kids, and a solution to helping the environment enough to live for?

All will understand how to protect the health of the environment as well as society, through properly and justly managing resources.

Education will no longer be used to program people for irrelevant vocations. It will explore known facts and inevitably the methods that are not yet known to improve quality of life on Earth.

In an educated world people will want to improve their lives and that of others. Humans must be given the chance to continue to evolve. Every single person should be working/studying/contributing towards the improvement of the planet. And it is of the utmost importance that science place an emphasis on the exploration of space.

It is my hope that when the system of consumerism and greed of the dark ages (our age) is looked back upon by future generations they will ask “how could anyone be so stupid?”

I'm not sure about the use oft he term Religion. I prefer the term movement. I am an atheist myself but I'd like to think that ZM includes people who have supernatural belief and people who don't. Movement seems to encompass both of these.

For anyone who thinks life beyond death, of which is an anchor point for most religions, is "superstitious" I would like you to do some experimenting. I am an agnostic, and have been looking into this stuff since seeing the film "paranormal activity" (it's awesome), a few weeks ago.

Now I have read all sorts of things, really interesting stuff, and how half of it hasn't been used in films as yet baffles me. However my understanding is there are some horrifying experiences people have had using an Ouija Board to contact the other side. I won't go into detail, again you can look these up yourselves.

These Athiest's who are so resolute that another dimension does not exist beyond which we can see or feel, should have a go with one of these boards and let us know there experience. I am planning too myself, however would like to do more research before I dabble. You don't need to buy one, just make it yourself with a piece of cardboard, black texta, and shot glass.

My understanding is there are malevolent entities out there just itching for you to start a conversation and then invite them into your life. According to what I have read if you are religious, don't blame Satan and his devil's either apparently, they were thought of as guardians and bringers of knowledge by the pagans and ancients apparently before the bible appeared and systematically destroyed all spiritual and occult knowledge the people were once enriched with and began a relentless propaganda campaign turning Satan from the good guy into the bad guy they are here to save us from. Fear as a tool of control, was learned a long time ago as you see.

I am a person of science, I believe Christianity, Judaism, and Islam and there off shoots are good examples of man made religions formed for the sole purpose of becoming a binding systems of control of the majority by the few. I think for true religion we need to look further back to honest religions of the pagans to see if truth of a possible other world might be found there.

Anyone who say's life after death is not possible as is a dimension where ghosts and so forth exist, then surely you must have no reservations about having a serious try of the Ouija Board. If you have already tried this before, what was your experience?

Good grief, the last thing we need is another religion to fight over. Lets stick to calling ZM a Movement which hopefully will eventually encompass atheists, agnostics, deists, theists, pagans and whatever else. If we really want to build support for a mass movement with a broad appeal that will embrace the concept of an RSB and TVP we can't afford to alienate either those who have religious or spiritual beliefs or those who reject them? Surely in any future society there is room for pluralism, because quite frankly, the idea of a mono-culture doesn't hold much appeal for me.

Here Here Freyacat, well said, let's bury this whole religion argument and let people believe what they want to believe.
