I thought It might be a good idea, if we began a local data-base of people, skills knowledge and resources. The intent would be for people to help each other with various idea's or projects. I have experience in a lot of things however lack in just as many. Collectively, even at just a knowledge base it could prove beneficial, for anyone trying to implement idea's. I am not suggesting that by being on the list you are obligated to help with every problem every person confronts, but sometimes simple things such as the phone number of a business or link can be very useful and save people a lot of guess work, running around and money. Most people implementing idea's are doing so on a budget, help and knowledge are always welcome.

By being on the list I think the worst you might expect is an occasional email asking a simple question. For example I can buy an off the shelf 3phase charge regulator, but I know that they are not so complicated that I wouldn't be able to build one my self at a fraction of the cost. I found articles and diagrams and calculation methods online but they are intended for someone that has electrical/circuitry background. If anyone could interpret the diagram and instructions for me into more easy to understand terms I would be very appreciative.

I might begin the database here, and if enough people start listing we might be able to begin something more formal on this site.

I suggest that the ground rules be that

    1. Questions in emails be kept very clear and simple initially,
    2. Don't think people are obligated to answer your questions, people have lives and may not have time.
    3. If you don't get a response don't keep sending emails. Maybe send the question again after a couple of weeks if you still don't get a reply leave it at that.
    4. Never be nasty to someone if they don't reply.
    5. Label the subject of your email as TZM or TVP so it is not written off as spam.
    6. No spam

feel free to add to this list

I will post my skills and resources next.

Great to see some action on the posts, I am all for the resources data base, I posted for one about 5 months ago asking for someone with the skils etc to set it up, but it was very quiet on the forums, at last some on going collaboration.

This resource data base should well be for TZM Global.

Maybe a member register and each member having a computercard? linked to the data base. "access card?"

    Just thinking out loud.

earth care, people care and fair share.

At last I found the post from 5 months ago.

    Actions & Words
    Hi to all
I have just been looking around the forums to see all the most recent posts and not a lot of activity has been of late. Some winter hibernation. Conversation is Education so I thought I might try and spark up some dialogue around the forums by dropping in and saying hi!
TZM membership has reached over the 400,000 mark, so it could be said we have over 400,000 sources of information from many & varied professions and life experiences,
We need to talk often about it, because there is a lot to be said and learnt.

What I am suggesting is a "LIFE RESOURCE DATA BASE" for the ease of sharing of information that has/is to do with the challenges we all face day to day and beyond as we prepare for the transition.

Let me suggest by draughting my own entry to such a database.

    dowell.
Self-suffient communities. Aviation. Art & photography.
Each being a sub heading to more detail.

From this heading all interested members could share valuable details to those looking for answers.

It’s about connecting and networking with each other,

SO! Are there any members out there that could and would like to create such a database?????

    Be well Do well

    Ok my idea is this:

Every Zeitgeist, has their own resource list on the data base,
Then it goes into Country wide,

Then we add all of them up into a total global,

We build a Iphone/Android application, that can access every thing,
From the data base, to a vote system of what we should build next,
If we build things like Zeit-Gyms like my proposal
We interlink the application with them,

I say we use Iphone / Android / Smart phone only for the reason of alot of people use them
and I believe this is the way most phones will go, and personal computing,

I do have little data base experience, but I can learn, though it takes time..
And I have the basis for this design now on my PC I have been working on it for a couple of weeks, so it is not much, seeing as no one has contacted me for the example
I will zip the files, and post them online in this message if your interested have a look at what I have done give me any information as to what I should add,

And I will try to the best of my lack of ability to do so.

I would certainly like to help with something like this, i'm able to do any of the necessary ASP codeing and database building

I looked at something like this a while ago and I think I've still got the access databases somewhere

what is did was to have three data bases

people - database of everyone in the group listing things like a phone number, address, age, sex , interests, hobbies
    skills, training etc,

resources - basically a list of things people could make available for use by anyone in the group and on the database
could be anything a cordless drill that would otherwise sit on a shelf for most of it's life , consumable items such as food, even certain services to a degree e.g. legal advice/services for things like conveyancing ... etc,

knowledge base - perhaps the most complex database, I would instead of holding the actual data in the database I would simply store a series of "tags" and a link to a html page written by the contributor which could contain a variety of data types from other links to videos and images

*a note on the knowledge database

on the application side of things it's not really necessary to write an iphone app , most of these smart phones are capable of running ASP and ASP.net web pages and in the interests of compatibility I would go down the ASP route and just make it a simple website

considering the negligible cost of web hosting I'm prepared to pay for that was well

The last few days I have been browsing the global site and some from other countries. I have noticed that most of the forums are cluttered, random and often end up straying on wild tangents. I find it almost ironic that TZM and TVP are principally about promoting resource based economy through the implementation of technology. I am not trying to put down the people who have started each of the respective chapters, because I know that they did so with the resources available to them at the time. But the time has come " Move Forward " the resources and skills are obviously available now.

I have no doubt collectively we be able to re-design the website into something much more useful.

I can see how the problems of a skills/resources data base could be very complex but I would suggest a system that is basically profiling. You create your profile with as much personal info as you choose to disclose, and then it would be a mater of ticking off boxes in several different categories, People could do a search based on the categories and then browse the profiles to find out more specific information about the individuals.

I would like to propose to anyone willing to participate in the new site design should meet up for a brain storm some time soon, nothing ever seems to be set in concrete in forums and chat rooms. I personally would like to participate however am very time poor. Sundays are my best days and Saturdays have a degree of flexibility. I would like to suggest somewhere simple like McDonald's simply because more often than not I have kids in tow.
It will be important that those with the skills to implement the project be present, so more or less the ball will be in their court. I am going away this week end so....I Would like to propose next Sunday the 30th of January 12.00 noon at a location (McDonald's) that suits everyone, I don't mind traveling (within reason) I live near Mt Gravatt, but am happy to go anywhere in the general Brisbane area.

Like I said though, if those with programming skills have times and dates in mind that suit them better then go for it guys, I will be sad if I can't attend but at least glad I got the ball rolling.

    Cheers .
