    Dear Venus Project and Zeitgeist Movement People of the World

    We need to get things started. Humanity can no longer be appeased nor can it survive by words alone. I don't know exactly how long ago Mr. Fresco started to spread his message (the first thing I have seen was dated 1974) so almost 40 years of pretty much just words. There have been made, small communities built with the Resource Based Economy in mind but not with the technological aspect in mind. Even the Show Case of the Venus Project outside of Venus Florida was built by the sweat and muscle of the human hand. I am disappointed in not seeing anything happening. To start this off I am not denouncing any of the following projects because I may not have all the information. It's kind of hard for me to find all the pertinent information with our current level of organization. When I went to the Venus Project Design website I thought I would find diagrams and perhaps working blueprints of a true Venus Project city. I thought the same thing when I went to the Atlas City Project's website. What I've seen at The Venus Project Design was they were mainly concerned with making movies. At least the Atlas Project is trying to build a city. However I still didn't find a working blueprint, plus that is a local project for New Zealand.

    I am now making this call to build in the Atlantic between South America and Africa a true Venus Project Sea City, to be built in the Venus Project manner. I am making a call to all the Venus Project/Zeitgeist Movement's members who are civil, chemical, structural engineers and architects, scientists, software developers, everyone who can come together to design this Sea City. A Sea City able to sustain one million people and not just sustain but built to grow and expand. So I also call on the teachers and doctors of the movement, so we can also build laboratories and factories to continue the growth of technology as well as the population. No city, village, commune or whatever you want to call them, that says it is a Venus Project model can succeed. A true Venus Project city or village can not succeed within the boundaries of a nation because of that nation's laws. No commune will work because it's to small and will offer no credibility. There are many communes now and the general population of the world thinks they are just a bunch of separatist crazies. People, even after all these years, think that about Mr. Fresco just because his area outside Venus Florida is so small. With a Sea City, between South America and Africa in international waters, we can make it an Αστυ (Asty) City-State. I picked this location for two reasons. Everyone wants things built in their own backyard and as I stated earlier, anything built within the confines of a national border is doomed to fail. The second reason is that once the Sea City is operational we would be in the position, as an Αστυ to offer aid (TRUE AID) to the two most impoverished continents on the planet and in so doing speed along the transition phase in a healthy, efficient manner.

    One of my personal ideas for speeding along the transition phase is the production of precious and semi-precious gem stones. Companies have been producing in factories diamonds, rubies and force growing pearls for decades now. Since such things have no value for us, we can produce them and give them away to the poor of South America and Africa. They will be able to sell them as they see fit, to gain the purchasing power they need to upgrade their quality of life. Then after time, when that market is flooded with our product, it will lose all value and fail. The options are endless. With proper technology we can do the same thing with automobiles, for who would want to BUY a polluting, unsafe automobile when they can get something much better from us for free. The end result would be the same, after time the market will be flooded then fail. With our production power we will be able to fabricate other Sea Cities based on this template, centered around the World's poor. Perhaps one in the East Indian for the people of south Asia.

    It is one thing to say that a better way is possible, it is quite another thing to SHOW that a better way exists. When people see what we have built then we will hear an outcry like never before and our numbers will swell far beyond the small 400,000 that we have now. The nations of the World will not be able to stop it. Also as a result the true enemies of humanity will come into the light and they will be unable to stop it, because they are few and we are many. I know to some, like new people who are just now finding out about us, that my words might sound inflammatory. Believe me, that was not my intent, I am just a man who has had enough. To those who have been members for awhile and know the movement and the purpose, I hope I struck a cord within you. The time for talk will soon be ending. The time for action has been here for far too long. If you are a member of any of the professions I listed earlier or are in a profession that I have overlooked and feel that you can contribute to the design of a Venus Project Sea City, contact me at chrislar@yahoo.com. I will organize all the information and get everyone in contact with each other. Then together we can get to work. I am just posting this on the chapter forums I'm a member of plus the international forum. If you know of anyone who you think would be interested feel free to forward this at your discretion. A truly heart felt thank you to all the VP/ZM members who are working to make our dreams a reality.

    TZM can accumulate the brainwork for this to a larger extent definetly, but what about the funds/resources?

    this topic is now sticky within a category.

    All the resources that are on land are also in the sea plus some that can only be found in the sea. I am not thinking about funds right now. I am thinking that it will take a few years just in the planing and the makeing of a working blueprint. Once we have a working blueprint and know what we need then we can forcast cost. The main thing is just get the thing designed, just get all the people nessacary to put pen to paper. Money isn't the concern. If we had all the money in the world it wouldn't matter if we don't know what to do with it. Take care Mr. Zwolski and I hope to hear from you again.

    I have to admit I really like your idea, I had thought about doing something similar to this in the centre of Australia, but like you said that would still be subject to the laws of this country and no matter how many people got on board a few people would still control the system refusing to let it go.

    I think a sea based city would be a very workable solution to the problem, unfortunately I don't have a degree in Engineering or computer programming, but I have had an interest in these for some years now and would be willing to follow these interests up if I had somewhere to go with them.

    I do disagree on 1 point however, in our current society money is a necessary evil and to build a sea based city will cost many millions of dollars, so I think it would be a good idea to start putting some money away for the project when it finally leaves the planning stages, as building the city won't be enough you will also need to come up with ways of collecting resources from the ocean without destroying the ecosystem ie. eco friendly deep sea mining and such (I do remember hearing some years ago that apparently you can extract some metals from the ocean waters themselves). I would be more than willing to donate some money each week to a project like this if I knew it was going somewhere.

    A couple sights I found with a quick google

    [url=http://edition.cnn.com/2009/TECH/03/09/floating.cities.seasteading/]

    [url=http://www.seacity.co.nz/news_media_colliers.htm]

    [url=http://oceania.org/]

    I only had a few minutes to look into it so I don't know much about what these people did but it might pay to find out how some of them either did it or proposed to do it, might be a place to start.

    Dear TheΩ 20 June 2010

    I thank you for the support and for the links. I will check them out as soon as possible. About your concern for money. The main thing I am thinking about is the planing stage. Once we know what we need then we can forecast the cost. If you want to donate, I suggest doing so in your own way of saving because this venture doesn't need funding yet. Plus you might need the money for some unforeseen emergency. The venture won't need funding till the planing stage is complete. What we need is ideas, thinkers. I really don't care about degrees. What I care about is that a person has a good working knowledge. So if you have something special along those lines, some talent. Then I would like to hear from you again and I will get you in contact with like minded people and together you guys can work to make the Sea City a reality.

    Don't worry this venture is going somewhere because I will NEVER STOP. Some people may come and go and then others will continue their work but I will be constant. This venture will be realized. I ask you to get in contact with me at chrislar74@yahoo.com the email address in my proposal is a typo, this is the correct one. Take care TheΩ and hope to hear from you soon.

    Actions & Words
    Hi to all
    I have just been looking around the forums to see all the most recent posts and not a lot of activity has been of late. Some winter hibernation. Conversation is Education so I thought I might try and spark up some dialogue around the forums by dropping in and saying hi!
    TZM membership has reached over the 400,000 mark, so it could be said we have over 400,000 sources of information from many & varied professions and life experiences,
    We need to talk often about it, because there is a lot to be said and learnt.

    What I am suggesting is a "LIFE RESOURCE DATA BASE" for the ease of sharing of information that has/is to do with the challenges we all face day to day and beyond as we prepare for the transition.

    Let me suggest by draughting my own entry to such a database.

    dowell.
    Self-suffient communities. Aviation. Art & photography.
    Each being a sub heading to more detail.

    From this heading all interested members could share valuable details to those looking for answers.

    It’s about connecting and networking with each other,

    SO! Are there any members out there that could and would like to create such a database?????

    Be well Do well

    Ocean cities, sounds great....for later on. Lets prove we don't stuff up terra firma first.
    I see the venus project as viewed on the websites as after I am dead. I consider my input now is to establish a base framework whereby later generations CAN focus upon design, research & development of smart materials & automated production for super sustainable cities. I/we need to achieve a personal low carbon footprint, low pollution self sufficiency first. Let's exist without money or the power of it at least first.
    I see TZM in the present day as providing all the time & learning they need (future generations) to get on with the job. No, I have no kids nor condone breeding.

    PS Chris74...what about Antarctica? It is virtually soveriegn free and gets 24 hr sunlight 6 mths of the year, not to mention good winds for turbine power.

  10. dowell

    I agree with you Sheedy, that transitional path makes sense, and its achieveable.
    Heard of any boat people heading for Antarctica lately? Now there's a challenge, may be possible?
    Hope we dont have to seriously consider that option.
