Hi All, This is my first post and I would like to say how refreshing it is to see people who want to get the Venus Project of the ground. The easiest way I can see it getting of the ground ( it is a bit crazy, but here goes) Is to get a political party together and get into parliment, hey we just had a hung election which to me says the Australians don't really care as the 2 main parties are basically the same, so offering something different and the option for a better life for all is a pretty big ace card up our sleeve the others don't have (we actually have a plan. Hey even racist bigot fish and chip workers can get into parliment so I think it is definately possible) But having the support of the masses and control of government would allow us to put the best Australia has to offer, in in all fields, together on our countrys and the worlds greatest project...... The Venus Project.
Well thats my idea I would be interested in any feedback.

    Cheers Adz

Hi Adz78, Your idea on becoming a polical party has one basic flaw, even though it is a great idea.
The Zietgeist Movement states a non political, none religious, no money philosophy. I think they are right in taking this stand, that is why I feel we have to take control of our own lives ourselves and in the transition make politics, religious instiutions and monetary systems redundant.
The ways of doing this are many as outlined in the orientation guide produced by the ZM. They suggest getting out of debt, ie leaving the big banks and moving over to local credit unions etc. And speading the message.
The old saying "if you cant beat them join them" is unlikely to work here, Why? because they control the power and can beat you with that they know best, bullshit!. Take the Greens for example. In a world of environmental destruction that is common knowledge, but the greens are struggling to get there party up, granted they have come a long way and that's my point we don't need to take the long way and be constrained by massive amounts of bullshit. Lets consider a short cut.
We that have the power over our own lives can work as a team to realise TVP, and beyond.
I am in the process of setting up communities of ZM people, for sustainable futures. The first project is up and running it is a 200acre property in a place called Eden Creek not far from Kyogle on the far north of NSW, if this is sucessfull this project can be duplicated all over Austratilia and the world. 20 sites are now available for consideration. See my forum topic "Zeitgeist Community?"
I have been working on this idea for 30years, my home has been built on 5 acres of land that I now fully own, I did this in 7 years. The opportunity came my way to buy into a 144 acre community 8 years ago, my power and gas bill is now around $2 per day, I grow loads of food most is turned back into compost, I pay $10 per week to cover council rates and property maintiance. I drive a luxury 4x4 that has been converted to gas and costs around 12c per klm in fuel, the conversion is controlled by computer injection, bit more expensive than standard system but very efficient.
Anyways Adz78 lets make this transition easy and efficient by pooling our knowledge and skill base, and of course spreading the word.
    Do well Be well

Zeitgeist communities are a terrific idea as it would be a good way of transitioning into an RBE. Someone's got to make a start, so good on you Dowell. I'll be most interested to hear more about it, as I am due to retire and move to Tassie within the next two years, and would love to set up something along those lines there.

Hi Everyone! I have read with interest your comments and i was wondering how everything is going and where everything is at? From what i see, we need to find out and confirm what rescourse we have at our disposal and which ones are needed.

There are ways of using PEOPLE POWER to our advantage. (http://www.principality-hutt-river.com). I think this is much closer and obtainable than we think.

ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS SHOW PEOPLE IT WORKS AND IS SUSTAINABLE!

    Thoughts / Ideas?

Fantastic stuff. Renting and otherwise accessing assets without ownership is a brilliant way to start. Utilise sustainably local resources. Have a look here: http://openfarmtech.org/wiki/

Didnt know about Hutt River. Though my thoughts are that there is no need for specific political system that should be involved in the design. Once you have a completely self sustaining area, what is the principal difference to how it is run? Then you can start recycling banknotes

Have some land in Warrumbungles, NSW...much less advanced then dowell. Working on technology side of things, specifically biopolymers and surface coatings (shape & colour)

The paradigm shift requires us to radically contract into a conserver society, get over our ‘Affluenza' quick smart, and embrace frugality as a moral obligation. If we don't get tough on ourselves, the world will get even tougher on us as the consequences of inaction or insufficient action take their toll.
