This text has come out of the brisbane meetup, posted by Koobar:

However the point that was made is that why doesn't everyone in Australia contribute (organised through each cities coordinated and hopefully pooled together ultimately by David @ Sydney) so that we can mass press a Large order of Addendum (say like 10k or 100k) that way we will have a LOT of DVD's professionally pressed and ready for distribution. We can then split them up amongst the states. It would probably require an input of say $1500 from each chapter, which would give each chapter around 1666 DVDs. In proper cases, pressed and printed.

We might be able to do a deal with them to get it cheaper, however many of the members mentioned that it might be a good idea to get it done overseas for cheaper. Which is a good option I think, although it falls into the whole corruption thing, we simply cant afford otherwise. If I was a millionaire, we would do it here for sure. But if we are trying to raise 1500 each group, it might be a bit too much. Thoughts on this would be helpful.

I never liked renting services. I wa sworking once in such a shop where they replicate the DV's and they just burn them as ususal and use a canon printer to make labels.

We can do ourselves a professionaly looking DVD. the wall to breach is to get the equipment or have access to it in a way that we can access it.

with time i will have such a shop at my desktop.

Brightgeist brightgeist@zeitgeist-movement.at post into the google Zeitgeist group regard mass dvd production:

    hi all!

many of us have been burning hundrends and thousands of DVDs in the last
few months, and I've been thinking that we could start using more
efficient and professional means for that

we have a Sony DVD factory here where I live (Salzburg, Austria), where
my company has had several DVDs copied in the past

there we could get (for example) 10.000 DVDs with packaging for a total
of 6.960 euros (that's about 10.350 US dollars at the current exchange rate)

those would be dual-layer DVDs, which means that we could fit ADDENDUM
and the Orientation Presentation Video on them, both in very good
quality and with different audio and subtitle tracks (I could make a
    menu for the DVD)

also included would be full 4-color label print for the DVDs

the packaging would be the eco-friendly "Bend-it Green" packaging, which
doesn't include any plastic and also has color printing included (you
    can check it out here:
    http://www.sonydadc-ebridge.com/Bend-it-Green-R.49.0.html). I think it
would send a good message to use this packaging.

1 dollar per DVD may seem expensive, since blank DVDs are of course much
cheaper than that. however, we shouldn't forget that this approach would
result in professionally pressed DVDs (= best compatibility with all
players) with color label print AND professional, eco-friendly
packaging, which will definitely make a very good impression.

also, this would eliminate the work we have been putting into copying
DVDs and therefore give us more time to dedicate to other ZM activities.
in the spirit of the Venus Project, we should really automate this task
    of copying DVDs

for Austria alone, we have made about 2.500 DVDs in the last few weeks
and spent about 1.000 euros on those (not including any packaging or
label print), so I think that a more professional way would be a viable
    option.

if you are interested in participating in this "project", please let me
know how many DVDs you would want (noncommittally, just to gauge the
    interest in the project)

    thanks, love and peace
    tom

I like the idea, but I don't think we have the financial capital to afford such an outlay at the moment.

I think the other issue is it actually changes peoples attitudes about giving the DVD's away when there is so many to give out. I currently prefer to target the DVDs to people who I know are likely to actually watch and understand it.

Actually, I've been toying with the idea of having a general DVD, which contains ZA and the Activist Orientation presentation (and anything else that can fit on the DVD), and a 2nd 'expanded' DVD, which adds other relevant videos like The Story of Stuff, Money as Debt, Interviews with Jacque, and Peter Joseph, various PDFs, and all the Blog Talk Radio mp3s.

It would be great if we could get authorisation to distribute Future by Design.
