In the society we know today money binds people together, and I don't see anything inherently wrong with that, after all it only seems fair for an individual to be rewarded for their services to society by a proportional service provided to them by society in return. Now of course there's all sorts of problems with banks, governments and other institutions abusing/controlling the flow of currency for their own selfish ends, but that issue's addressed elsewhere. What I want to know is how does money work in a Zeitgeist's society, or rather, how do you think it should work?

I am of course assuming a moneyless society couldn't work.
    Correct me if I’m wrong.

I think there are ideas that state that currency does not have to be in money form. Maybe we have simple understandings and need benefits that are obvious to the expenditure of effort etc.

Maybe the more we understand and value what is good ie a smooth running planet, somehow the old concepts of simple trade versus the evolution of such an idea may bring us to evolve new understandings and systems.

One example is that in a situation, someone would not accept money because they know their efforts have increased value elsewhere and that that increase of value will "come around" and has increased the value of something that will directly effect them in the future.

The current system encourages excess and what comes of dealing with the issue of excess with surley drive evolution in the topic.

    Hope this helps

I have heard PJ say something along the lines of "In a system with money, there will always be corruption". It is the major point of a few big parts of his speeches that money encourages corruption.

Doing something for someone else, is doing something for the world, which is doing something for yourself. What goes around does "come around". But that is still a selfish way of looking at it. This current system is forcing everyone to think selfishly. One should be able to do things for others without expecting/requiring anything for themselves. Doing something for others is essentially doing something for yourself, but one should not expect/require to get anything in return.

I think that is an ideal system, people will not be so selfish and everyone will be happy to help others out. We will all work together like one organism, not just the human race, but the Earth and inherently the whole universe. Our existence will not be out to better ourselves, but to better the whole universe. We are all one. Your actions affect not only you, but everything around you.

Cognisant, if you are interested in finding out the point of view on this issue from that of the Zeitgeist movement, you can do no better than to watch the lectures given by Peter Joseph, and to listen to the podcasts. I will provide links to these resources at the bottom of my post. Also, the next Zeitgeist movie coming out later this year will talk about the psychological issues involved.

I will spare you my attempt at thoroughly explaining the concept but I will say this: It is made explicitly clear that for a RBE to work there must first be a paradigm shift in society towards a spiritual, inclusive and wholistic approach to living. TZM is in currently the phase of moving society towards this shift.

I make your life easier then you make someone elses life easier --- a snowball effect that would at some point negate the need for money ?..I'm tired of working to make money, I'd rather work for the enjoyment of helping someone else who gets benefit from my actions who then in turn would put their efforts to do the same for another -- Is my head in the clouds?

No rmb60 your head is not in the clouds.
    Altruism is the new currency.

My understanding is that we only really need money now to pay for base needs like food and shelter. In the mooted RBE, all those needs are automated and taken care of for all humanity. If everything we could ever need or want is provided automatically and instantly, what need is there of any form of exchange?

We are talking about a post-scarcity society, which is achievable today if we put our minds to it, replacing the enforced and fake scarcity we have now.

The new paradigm also requires the subjucation of the ego, and that's a hard thing to see clearly from where we are now, as evidenced in this thread. We're all in this together; let's stop trying to rip each other off.

money i don't think we're going to escape from, at least not for a long long time anyway,
an RBE as envisioned by J,fresco or a variation of it is something we're probably going to evolve to in the end,

money today is something you simply cannot do without for no other reason that no one is going to accept ten apples for a litre of petrol to put in your car...

when the collapse happens and the money in our hands is literally worthless ,i think we'll see a barter system of kinds come out,,, and i think it will naturally align itself with the illegal drug industry,

the price structure and modal that works there is very interesting and benefits both buyer and sell in an interesting way, whats interesting is that it works very very very well considering there is no outside regulation and that across entire countries the prices remain and have remained the same for a long time,
anyone who wants to know more say so,

what we should be doing is restarting the monthly meetings and assessing the current environment and what can be done to make our existence in this monetary hell hole just that little bit easier,

i've been thinking about it for a little while , the resource based business while ambitious and potentially very powerfull require more than what i've currently got to startup

It does enduce a feeling of irony, when we are advocating a moneyless system that will require a lot money to reach a point where it can sustain without it? I can't remember if it the idea was thrown around in this forum, or if I heard it mentioned else where, but I think a big step in the transition would be something akin to a "time bank". My interpritation of this would be that everyones contribution to society, regardless of education, skills, qualifications would be regarded by the timebank as equal. We need brain surgens as equally as we need bakers? All contributions are considered equal, and have a ceiling, all contributions beyond that are considered pro-bono. That would provides all basic neccessities, a state of the art furnished dwelling proportional to your family, free transport, uncontaminated fresh food and water, and freedom to learn, join, help, relax, play sport, at your own discretion.
There would be a mater of personal wants/disires and this could be obtained in two ways. An amount is accrued in the timebank equating to the value of the goods or services you disire or you could use your free time to obtain various goods. ie: I wanted a custom desk for my home, I would go to the local furniture factory and help build the desk I wanted and/or contribute a small amount of pro-bono time within the factory?

Just my wild idea's but we all have to face it, sooner or later we're going to need some serious bucks collectively and individually to kick things off.
