Is anyone out there looking at starting a self sustaining comunity/village in Queensland?

there is alot of talk of buying land and working together to make sustainable comunitys in Cannada, Europe and North America.
so i was wondering if ppl were up for it here.
ive got ideas but no money, i keep trying to win the lotto, it never works... maby i should get around to buying a lotto tickit to improve the odds.

I work in Brisbane and i wouldnt want to give up my job, but i see no reasion why that should stop members from living in a comunity together, sharing rescources, buying food in bulk from markets.
Build green houses/hydroponic farms and grow our own fruit and veggies, BUT still work in the comunity to prevent us from isolating ourself from the rest of the country.

There are ppl now who do simmiler things and the only thing that links them together is the street they live on.

if severial of these comunity's sprung up around the country you could move state and know you had a
    Z-comunity to move to.

If we did this right eventually (LONG TERM IDEA) we could be free from buying food, electricity, water, and eventually build fully automated manafacturing plants and beat the econnomy at its own game.

there is alot of chatter and good ideas being thrown around on the global website, but the way i see it is, we have a starting point... so lets start.

the want's of the few out weigh the need's of the many

Hi, I'm from Melbourne so unfortunately I'm not here to say 'count me in', however I have been doing some research into 'getting off the grid' and if you look for the related forum thread around here somewhere there are some very good links posted by myself and Stu, another Melbournian.

I'd be very interested to see how this works out for you if you do find enough fellow members and I'll give whatever support/ advice I can.

    Hi there,
I live in Brisbane, and I'd definitely be interested in being a part of a self sustaining community/village in Queensland. I'll keep my eye on the topic, and see if anyone else in the area would be interested

wow 2 weeks and only one other person in brisbane is intrested in living more sustainably....
normaly i would be very disapointed at this result but since ive moved to brisbane i have been disapointed every step of the way. guess i should of expected as much.

were trying to convince the world to live sustainabily but so many are not willing to take the leap themselves.

    Hi elfro.

Unfortunately most people in this world are not willing to change for the better as they appear to use to the norm. I do think your idea of a self sustaining community is a great idea. However, an idea also needs to show people how it can be implemented.

I live in North QLD and would be interested in this if someone can show how this can be possible and of course more people that are interested would be needed.

I'm interested, and I'm sure alot of other people would be too...
Starting it up and funding it, getting land etc would be the hardest part but surely it would be easyish as soon as that was done..
I think designs and plans are all very good but the only way you can really show people it can be implemented is to actually implement it. On a small scale.
Maybe an experimental piece of land could be rented out privately. So many people have property that goes unused.
Like... a 6 month - 1 year experiment. If you got a few people you wouldnt need to win the lottery!

    I feel like an idiot.
ever came up with an idea, and spent ages over designing it, then realise there is an obvious easier solution?. (we do it alot at work)
    renting land Brillent.

Recently saw a 10 acre block with a house for $370 a week. 10 Acre = 10 family's with more room for each than any new renting housing estate.
the house could be used as the central hub.
the thing is housing. i love the Earth Bag idea but building on someone elses property can have its problems.
I keep coming back to Yurts or Ger's (Nomadic portable homes)
if the mongols can survive the mongolian weather in one, then queensland would be a breese.
there would be a few things to figure outstill but it would work for me as long as i could get to work in under a hour by motor bike.
