Excellent resources,neongraffiti! This cat just about wet her knickers over the Shaun Micaeleff's Newstopia clip. Good to see Reserve Bank info relating to Addendum. Does anyone know if Ken Henry is still our member on the IMF (the other one is Wayne Swan)? He is listed on their website but I am uncertain as to how up to date the info is on membership.
Also a very recent newsworthy item is that as part of the current tax reform our treasurer will reveal plans to lure more 'offshore' investors (nice little euphemism, are they not called foreign any more) with tax breaks and new measures to expand the multi-billion dollar sector. The high-level review (whose chair is Macquarie Bank executive Mark Johnson)advocates a new partnership between government and the finance industry (new?) with the ultimate goal to make Australia a financial powerhouse that is able to compete against London and New York for global capital.
I am starting to understand our local monetary system just a little better lately. Sheesh, if I get really good at this stuff, will I join the dark side and start making money, hehe? -

Watch out for the 4Corners program tonight on our Reserve Bank involving whistle blower account of central banking in foreign countries (Nigeria?) and bribes. If you miss it tonight, this program is usually repeated and also can be downloaded/watched on ABC iview.
