Sorry for the silly title, but in a way that is exactly what we are creating, we are planting the seeds for the doom, destruction and demise of the world as we know it. I love it. I want it. I will fight for it.

what jihad is to religion I am to Zeitgeist rofl.

    anyway...

    Roles...

Machines although fascinating and incredible will not be able to simply do everything for us. Somethings we won't want them to do for us. Possibly things like early infant/child care and perhaps even child birth. Not sure if mother dearest would like the idea of a machine reachin' up there and simply pulling junior out.

We have to remember we are indeed human and therefore extremely diverse and different in many ways as individuals and collectives too.

It wont do to be siting in a mechanical dentists chair being worked on then suddenly sneeze...

    Can you think of others?

    Let's do this

Anything that requires creativity, and/or requires intelligence to a certain extent (where it can't be substituted with artificial intelligence).

I really don't think people will want to stop delivering babies because they aren't getting money for it. Really.

Yeah thanks guys but I'm trying to identify exactly which roles may indeed be inappropriate for machines. We should make a list and have a discussion/debate about the pro's and con's as this is the sort of thing that will pave the way for our future in the "Real World" within The Venus Project.

Future technology will indeed be able to create/design our homes and buildings initially with our input but eventually with ALL our input they will now what we want.

Through our input the machines will have the benefit of being one huge collective brain, able to think for itself much faster than we can, so as far as that kind of intelligence goes, they will out do us because they will be ALL of us in one entity.

Music is a good one, music comes from the heart which machines will never have, so yeah that's one area.

lets make a list of others.

    OK, in no order:

    • Journalists
    • Scientists
    • Artists (Authors, Musicians, Actors, Directors, Painters, etc.)
    • Programmers
    • Architects
    • Engineers
    • Teachers (could be automated but probably most effective to have human teachers?)
    • Bureaucrats (& Politicians, depending on governance. These could potentially be automated)

I'll probably get flamed over the last one, but I think it's a necessity unless someone can explain how we'll run cities, countries and the entire world without direction. Yes, people will be able to pick up any field they want with enough knowledge, but a government is required to support fledgling areas of science (and other facets of society for that matter) to interest people in taking up fields to further development in that area.

I think that the type of governance is largely irrelevant, it's just picking the most effective point within the box of:
    Policy Democracy ----- Election Democracy
    -----------------------------------------
    Policy Automation ---- Election Automation

These are the professions that will largely be required (IMO). Keep in mind that lots of people might just take up hobbyist professions that aren't required or mightn't even offer any practical contribution to society at all.

No practical contribution to society, like smoking pot????

Have you even watched the Zeitgeist doco's man??? I really don't think you have, honestly dude, Governments? Bureaucrats? Journalist???

put down the bong, turn on the movie Zeitgeist and watch it. Then watch Zeitgeist Addendum. Then go to the zeitgeist website and download the Zeitgeist Movement Orientation DVD and the DVD titled "Where are we now/Where are we going". No doubt like your vast internet porn collection it's all free.

Everything you asked is explained with the first 2 movies. Pot=good for you?

    You make a fine example.

If you look for the category this topic is under, you'll see it's named "Discussion Lounge" - the key word being "Discussion".

If you want to discuss a topic, by all means, let's. But if you're just going to throw insults at me, reconsider the need to post.

Let me know when you're ready for the former.

And which movies were they, sorry t0n3s?

I finally got around to watching Zeitgeist Addendum again last night, and the most relevant excerpt in it was this:
The society, that we’re about to talk about, is a society that is free of all the old superstitions, incarceration, prisons, police, cruelty and law. All laws will disappear and the professions will disappear, that are no longer valid, such as stockbrokers, bankers, advertising... Gone! Forever!

    Because it’s no longer relevant.

I've also looked all over ZG's global website for something related to this too. Nada.

Could you point me to where you read or heard that TZM/TVP is against the concept of having bureaucrats, journalists and governments?
