    Hey fellas,

I'm starting at UQ this year and I'm interested in starting up a Zeitgeist Movement group at the uni (unless there's already one?)

Problem is that I don't know anyone else from TZM going to UQ.

So if you're a student at UQ and would like to join me in setting up a group at UQ to spread awareness about the movement, leave a reply in this thread.

    Regards,
    Malcolm.

ill make a post of this so you can get some exposure.

    Hey malcolm,

In my experience at UQ in talking to people, there are quite a few who are at least aware of Zeitgeist, but no group as such currently exists. Bringing awareness to zg and tvp at universities is not only clever, but essential since uni students are the future of society in all specialised industries. I would encourage you to bring awareness during your time at UQ, and I'd be happy to help as well..

    Much appreciated admin

And yeah, what you're said is true bvidium; I just hope I can get enough interest in this to get it off the ground.

Edit: I'm going to be looking into how to set up an 'official' UQ group, but until I can do that we might just have to make do with an independent setup.

I think even if we just started out with just 3-5 members interested in helping out, it will still be enough to start putting posters up around the (St. Lucia) campus and talking to other students about TZM, so that we can generate more interest in the movement, and thus get more members in the group.

From now until the start of semester 1, I'll be looking into setting up a website for the group so we can easily share news/events and schedule stuff.

I'll keep this thread up to date with any developments.

Good to see some ZG happening at UQ. Jakob (koobar) and I have been doing things in Brisbane (we're at different QUT campuses). We've been talking about booking venues at campuses to hold lectures or workshops. I'm interested in aiming for those who have found Zeitgeist already and accept it, but who are in danger of just drifting off for lack of connection... and yet they're really looking for solidarity... we need to 'grow' our reality by sharing and supporting each other and also cultivating our ability to articulate our perspective. I found this approach was well received at the last meeting in New Farm, small as it was. The spin-off effect of this could be much greater than dragging people into a mass screening. If people go away feeling more confident about being able to explain problems from the Zeitgeist perspective, they'll sow seeds in the minds of those around them at work and home.

What Simon is saying is spot on. We need to connect collectively. If you start up an awareness group at UQ it would be great to attend meet-ups and maybe even host meet-ups with the sub group from UQ. As long as we all stay connected that is the main goal at this stage. We are in the process of setting up a Queensland mailing list so that we can keep everyone up to date.

    Sup Maling.
I'm at UQ (this coming semester will be my final sememster there however). I'd be keen to get involved if you do start up a group at UQ. You should do it!

Hi everyone. I'm at UQ as well and really keen to talk to others about the movement. Let me know what times you are thinking of meeting and I'll be there with the proverbial bells on

Oh, awesome. Good to see some people interested in this

Well, I've been (slowly) working on setting up a discussion board (independent from these ones) for UQZeitgeist, but I'm wondering if you guys think it would be needed? I'll post a link to the site soon, but my plan as of now is to have an independent forum where we can all post news & discuss stuff specifically pertaining to the group and UQ.

The theory is that this will provide UQZeitgeist with a customised platform to work with, as opposed to a few cluttered threads on these boards.

Let me know what you think.

Also, I'm thinking that we could have the first meet-up for the group on Wednesday 3/3, if that works for you guys. This will give us some time to discuss what we could do for ZDay, and, of course, the direction of the group itself.

    Cheers

A UQ forum is a great idea, maling. But only if it gets used! It probably wouldn't be much good if we had less than 20 or so members in the club. Also, find a decent platform to set the forum on. I recommend you check out http://www.simplemachines.org/ which is an excellent forum service that gets used on http://www.parkour.com.au/forum and caters quite efficiently to hundreds of users across Australia (and indeed, overseas) (hint to zeitgeistaustralia.org forum team ).

I should be free on the third, mate.
