Zeitgeist MF philosophy night and discussion

Hey Hey,

Thanks to everyone who came down for the movie night and REBOOT!

It was a great night and as usual we got into some great post movie conversations. To kick off the philosophy events we will meet up and discuss the movie and the ideas in depth. I’ll bring some resources about the ideas presented including some studies that back up the ideas and we can also discuss and vote on the next movie night topic.

This is great chance to understand the movie and ideas better with a view to engaging in conversations with others as well feed into our movie nights and the Melbourne movement.

We’ll keep it at the same bar, there’s some comfy couches out the back and plenty of space for us relax and enjoy the chats.

Come down, enjoy a chat and a drink and lets learn more together.

Zeitgeist Moving Forward screening and Melbourne Movement REBOOT

Hey Melbourne Zeitgeisters!

It’s time to reboot the movement in Melbourne town!

Lets get re-energised and kick off a regular monthly documentary event by revisiting the 3rd in the Zeitgeist series at a cool little wine bar in St Kilda. Let’s discuss ways to raise awareness of the ideas presented, create some new events, live the philosophies of the Z-movement and what we can do in Melbourne to build a Z-movment community!

There’s some drink specials, great food, some comfy chairs and some friendly faces to look forward to and some interesting discussions to be had and new ideas flowing!

Sonny is working on a regular technology based event and as well as the regular monthly viewings (kicking off with this one), we will also talk about a starting a philosophical group to regularly discuss and understand deeper the movement and its structure.

We really want to make the first few of these BIG so we can keep going back to this cool little bar. We would love to see you there so please RSVP and bring some friends!!

Monthly Movies that Matter – May 2015

The Zeitgeist Movement Queensland brings you Monthly Movies that Matter, a free event headlining with the documentary, ‘The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil’.

This event is much more than watching a movie! Hear from coordinators about upcoming projects and events you can be involved in, including the Community Tours project and TZM Australia Podcasts. We will also show a range of short clips to educate and inspire a train of thought that can lead to a more sustainable future for all.

‘The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil’ tells the story of the hardships and struggles as well as the community and creativity of the Cuban people when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1990 and Cuba’s imports of oil were cut by more than half – and food by 80 percent. (Approx. 50 mins). Check out the trailer here:

Each month we also vote on next month’s movie or theme. Everyone in attendance is welcome to make a suggestion and vote using minimum-opposition.

The event will be held in the Brisbane Square Library in the Theatrette free of charge. It’s a perfect opportunity to learn more about a more positive future, find out more about what’s happening in the Zeitgeist Movement locally, nationally and globally… and if you’d like to be more involved. Most importantly, it’s a great way to make friends, connect with like-minded people and have a great time.

After the film we mingle at the cafe next door, please feel free to join us for this too if you can’t make it to the movie. Feel free to bring books to trade… and to bring your flash drive to share resources.

We look forward to seeing you there!
